When we asked Dr M’bwana if he killed his victims with his hands, he insisted it was the magic that killed them. Remi Weekes and I wanted to make a film about African people’s heritage. We filmed Wizard in a village in Malawi at a crossroads where Christianity, Islam and traditional African magic meet. A place where magic is just a part of life.

 

Wizard premiered at The Smalls film festival 2016 and had screenings in London and Manchester. It was hosted on Topsafe.tv and Reely n Truly film club.
