Wizard

What does it mean for magic to kill somebody? When we asked Dr M’bwana if he killed his victims with his hands, he insisted it was the magic that killed them. Remi Weekes and I wanted to make a film about African people’s heritage. We filmed Wizard in a village in Malawi at a crossroads where Christianity, Islam and traditional African magic meet. A place where magic is just a part of life.

Wizard premiered at The Smalls film festival 2016 and had screenings in London and Manchester. It was hosted on Topsafe.tv and Reely n Truly film club.
